SMF, SAMI and Symf: “Our members’ music must not be freely used for AI training”
2025-11-19The development of artificial intelligence presents vast opportunities, but cannot come at the expense of content creators – so say the organisations representing Sweden’s musicians. For several years, AI companies have repeatedly used Swedish musicians’ performances without consent or payment. Now, Swedish Musicians’ Union (SMF), Swedish Artists’ and Musicians’ Interest organisation (SAMI) and the Swedish Union of Professional Musicians (Symf) are taking a united stand, collectively reserve the rights of the represented rightholders, i.e. rejecting the use of their members’ music as raw material by tech companies profiting from musicians’ work.
